Forget about orange, Pink is “the” color for October as we support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month across the country. The rally cry to support early diagnosis, research and treatment can be heard far and wide as it seems everyone has been impacted in some way by this disease. We all know someone, maybe a friend, a family member or acquaintance who has battled breast cancer. Many of us are fighting this ourselves every day.
Today PBS would like to recognize the people in your life affected by breast cancer. We encourage you to reply here with a post of their names in support, in memory, and in honor to create our “Remembrance Page”. It’s a small thing, but just one way to say we won’t give up and we won’t forget.
We’re also giving away 5 copies of “Uplift, Secrets from the Sisterhood of Breast Cancer Survivors” by Barbara Delinsky.
This 10th anniversary updated edition is an inspiring collection of stories, advice and survival secrets.
(You do not have to post a name in your reply to be in the drawing. Supportive comments welcome, too!)
We’ll randomly choose five winners from all replies.

In Remembrance of my Aunt Cindy Jones. One of my heros. She will never be forgotten and forever missed! Love you Aunt Cindy!
My sil Tammy has been battling breast cancer for the last year and a half. She is only in her 30’s and no family history, so it has been doubly shocking for all of us. If you want to know what a hero is, you just need to look at my sil.
She is going through her second round of treatment, has had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, and throughout all of this she has NEVER complained. She has not only stayed actively engaged as a parent to my two grammar school aged nephews, but she has continued to work full time as a labor and delivery nurse(a job she LOVES), on her feet all day and some days in terrible pain, but she refuses to give in to this disease. Most of all, she is my brother’s rock. She is the one that keeps him going. She is the love of my brother’s life and he is having a very difficult time even thinking about living without her. He takes care of her and tries to pamper her, but right now, she is the one keeping the family strong. She is amazing.
I want to be my sil when I grow up. I love you Tammy. keep up the fight!
