Newletter – April 2005

Friday, April 1st, 2005

As one of the founders of PaperBackSwap, I just wanted to let you know that we run this site because of our love for books and our desire to allow our members to trade books for free (except postage, which we can not control)! My wife, Lynn, has now become an integral member of the team (so now there are 3 of us!). She has taken on the task of the monthly newsletter which will play a big role in keeping you up-to-date on the latest happenings at PaperBackSwap.com.

Just to remind everyone, we currently run this site and pay for it ourselves. As membership grows, we hope to be able to collect enough annual club dues to cover our expenses. And please remember, this is a “family-run” club. We have real jobs and work on the club mostly during the nights and weekends. In addition to my wife and I working hard on the site, Robert (our good friend, co-founder and programmer for the site) has done a great job of putting together all kinds of new features for you. You guys amaze us with some of the fantastic ideas you have submitted. Thanks and keep them coming!

Now, without further ado, here is the April Newsletter from my lovely wife, Lynn. Hope you enjoy it!

April Newsletter from Your PaperBackSwap Team

Don’t miss everything that is going on in your club. Keep up-to-date with the latest features that are yours to enjoy at absolutely no charge for members of the best book club in America. No gimmicks. No spam. No advertising. No kidding.

Hush Hush We value our members’ privacy. Your personal information is never shared with other members or with other companies. While we do not offer members direct communication with other members, PaperBackSwap does offer ‘live chat’ which gives members an opportunity to talk with each other. Look for scheduled chat sessions on specific topics coming up.

Who’s That Knock’in At My Door?
Coming soon, members will be allowed to post messages into another member’s account if the member chooses to accept messages. This service, “Member Mail,” will offer our book lovers a way to discuss topics such as the types of books they read, where they are from, who their favorite authors are and how often they read.

So often, a member selects multiple books from the same person because they have such similar taste. We want to offer them an opportunity, in addition to live chat, to share information. It’s really wonderful that our members are starting to feel like one big happy family. We love it!

It’s Vacation Time!
With summer just around the corner, many of our members are looking forward to a well-deserved summer vacation. If you plan on being out of town for an extended period of time, your books can now wait patiently for you. No need to delete and then re-list them when you return. Now you can place your books and reviews on “Hold” and specify a date when you would like them reposted to the library. It’s as simple as a few clicks. Go to your account page and click on the button in the right column labeled “I’m Away From Home” and you’ll see just how easy it can be to maintain and manage your account.

Earn Extra Credits
Don’t forget that you can earn additional credits through referrals. This month we would like to recognize member Cassandra M. from Navasota Texas for bringing the most new members to our club. Thanks Cassandra for helping to grow the club as well as the number of books we all have to trade. For more information on how the club’s referral system works please read our FAQs located at http://www.paperbackswap.com/help/.

To contact the PaperBackSwap Team, go to the ‘Contact Us’ section of the website. To unsubscribe to this newsletter, go to your account and change your preference for newsletters.

Thanks and have a great day!

Happy Reading,

The PaperBackSwap Team (Richard, Lynn and Robert)

Newsletter – March 2005

Tuesday, March 1st, 2005

Don’t miss everything that is going on in your club. Keep up-to-date with the latest features that are yours to enjoy at absolutely no charge for members of the best book club in America. No gimmicks. No spam. No advertising. No kidding.

Your Credits are Ready and Waiting For You
Did you know that for every one of your referrals that joins the club as an active member, you will receive a free credit? It’s a great idea to share the best book club in America with all your friends and family. Not only do you receive credits, but the more members that join, the greater the selection of books for everyone! Use the ‘Tell a Friend’ or the ‘Advanced Referrals’ sections of the home page and start earning those free credits today.

Reposting is a Breeze!
Receiving books can be very rewarding, and it can be even more rewarding to repost them! At PaperBackSwap you have the option to repost any book you order. Simply acknowledge receipt of the book and at the same time you can indicate when you would like the book reposted. Multiple options include 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, in one month or “I’ll repost later”. What’s even more terrific about this service is that if you prefer, you can select a default repost time period in your member profile so it will automatically be selected for you. The PaperBackSwap team is thrilled to implement great ideas like this one, submitted by Bradley S. from San Francisco, CA. Thanks Bradley!

Note from the Team at PaperBackSwap
As the saying goes, ‘Membership has its rewards!’ At PaperBackSwap your membership is rewarded with tens of thousands of titles to choose from as well as book reviews from avid readers. We don’t clutter your favorite site with needless advertising or unrelated offers. That’s why the best book club in America has members in every state! Our members’ books travel coast-to-coast and the site offers free paperbacks to every member.

We’ve had tremendous feedback about how much our members are enjoying the service. Here are just a few of the things members are saying:

“Better than spending time at the library or money at the bookstore. Paperbacks are as handy as my mailbox. And, instead of collecting dust on my shelves, a paperback can be mailed off to another reader by simply adding four stamps to the printed wrapper. Great idea!”
Dita P. – Carrollton, GA – 2/28/2005

I love this site!!! I had barely put my books on this site and I had requests for my books. I pointed out a problem and it was immediately solved. As a former bookseller, this is great for me and all my books that are collecting dust. I only wish I could have found about this sooner.”
