Dune by Frank Herbert
Opposing forces struggle for control of the universe when the arch-enemy of the cosmic emperor is banished to a barren world where savages fight for water. — Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad’Dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind’s most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula award, shared the Hugo award, and formed the basis of a grand epic in science fiction.

I would love to read this book.
If I win this one, it’ll be one of only a handful of sci-fi genre books that I own… and once I read it, only the 2nd or 3rd that I’ve read 🙂 I know it’s a classic and have always meant to read it though.
The above book, featured on this blog, is not my first choice. Do we have a choice? I’m wishing for the volume of writings by Frederick Douglass.
Never read this book, but it’s on my list!
One of my favorite reads. Have read it several times and ready to read it again!!
And the same book used in Quote of the Day! I would love to experience this book. ^_^
Sounds good to me!
The book is 100 times better than either the movie or tv adaptation. I have literally read my copy to pieces. Hoping to win so I don’t have to keep grabbing the fallen-out pages from the cat!
Wow. Thanks for bringing back Free Book Friday. Dune is a classic that I have always meant to read. I even saw it featured on the Great American Read, a few summers ago. Thanks for this opportunity!
Thanks!
Legendary novel by legendary author, one of the best SF books ever written, a beginning of one of the greatest SF series ever.
Free Book Friday is a cool idea!
🙂
The spice must flow … I must get a copy of this book on my “bucket to-read” list!
AOK! I’ve been waiting for a copy of Dune!
From my twenties through my forties I made it a point to read through the Dune series every five years!
I have been wanting to read this book for a long time. I love the idea of Free Book Friday!
Saw the movie a million years ago but would love to read the book. Oftentimes the movie leaves out a lot.
Would love to read this book.
Would love to win! The book sounds like a good read.
I have read the book, but would enjoy reading it again.
Have seen the movie several times. The books are usually better. Would like to find out.
A true classic of the genre – must read or reread before the movie comes out!
