Free Book Friday!

Our Free Book Friday prize this time is:

The Lost Wife by Alyson Richman

A rapturous new novel of first love in a time of war-from the celebrated author of The Last Van Gogh. In pre-war Prague, the dreams of two young lovers are shattered when they are separated by the Nazi invasion. Then, decades later, thousands of miles away in New York, there’s an inescapable glance of recognition between two strangers. Providence is giving Lenka and Josef one more chance. From the glamorous ease of life in Prague before the Occupation, to the horrors of Nazi Europe, The Lost Wife explores the power of first love, the resilience of the human spirit- and the strength of memory.

I read this book for a book club last year and loved it! The book had me on an emotional roller coaster from start to finish. This was the first book I’ve read by Alyson Richman and it was a beautifully written one. I lent my copy to a friend and after finishing it, asked if she could pass it on. Of course, I said “yes!” I’d love to win a copy to send to my mom who shares my love of reading. She is always treating everyone else to some little happiness and I think she deserves a little something for herself, too! =)

I would very much like to win a copy of The Lost Wife. My paternal grandfather came to this country during the war and his life was similar what is described in the excerpts of this book so I believe that I would find it fascinating to read about this event.

    Cynthia

I have been a member for almost five years now. I read an average of 8 books a month so I continue to circulate all the great ( and not so great) books I have received. PBBS has been a tremendous opportunity to become exposed to new authors, genres, etc. that I probably would never have tried had I been buying books. Win or not, I am a big fan and I tell every book lover I meet about the site.
